Dr. Joan Henderson graduated from the University of Florida school of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. She was an associate veterinarian on a large brood mare farm through 1987. After marrying in 1987 to Dr. Boyd Henderson, she moved to Elizabethtown where she established the current practice. As the practice has grown and expanded, she has maintained a strong interest in equine reproduction. She believes that a good horse owner is an educated horse owner. Therefore client education is very important to the practice. Dr. Henderson values the opportunities that she, her associate veterinarians and technical staff have for continuing education and skill enhancement. Overall, she hopes that the practice conveys a sense that each horse and each owner are very important as is the quality of care that is provided. She is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the American Veterinary Medical Association. On a personal note, Drs. Boyd and Joan Henderson have two children. The eldest daughter, Cassi was born in 1991 and Haley followed in 1993. They also have a black lab, Wyatt. Dr. Henderson also breeds sport horses and enjoys many riding and outdoor activities.
