We, at Henderson Veterinary Associates recommend the following preventative treatment schedule for horses 15 years of age or older.
With the spring vaccinations, we suggest also doing the following:
Physical Examination
Oral examination +/- dental float
Fecal Examination to check for intestinal parasites and discuss de-worming program
Vaccinations recommended in the spring are Eastern and Western Encephalitis, Tetanus, West Nile Virus, Potomac Horse Fever, Rhino/Flu,+/- Rabies
Other vaccinations that can be administered are Intra Nasal Strangles, Botulism and Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis(EPM)
With the fall vaccinations, we suggest also doing the following:
Physical Examination
Oral Examination +/- dental float
Fecal Examination if not performed in the spring
Complete Blood Count and Bio-chemistry to check for infection, anemia, electrolytes, muscle and organ function
Vaccinations recommended in the fall are West Nile Virus, Rhino/Flu, Potomac Horse Fever, +/- Rabies
Other vaccinations that can be administered if not done in the spring are Intra Nasal Strangles, Botulism and Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis(EPM)
